A Lesson In Solitude- Varun Anand Bhat

A hot, sunny day,
A cold beer in hand.
I slept on a deck chair
On a beach full of sand.

For that moment in my life,
I lived without stress.
For the first time in a long time,
Life didn’t feel like a mess.

I could sense peace around me,
I could think clear.
Knowing this time would soon end,
Left me with a tear.

But then I stopped thinking,
Got back to the present.
Living in the moment,
Made life feel pleasant.

Then it was time
For me to leave the beach.
This trip that I made,
Left me with a lesson I could teach.

The lesson is simple,
Enjoy some time being alone.
It will bring you a type of joy,
You wish you would’ve known.
