Empty Stomachs, Heavy Hearts- Varun Anand Bhat

From the moment we are born, till the time we die, Life turns into sadness, and happiness seems like a lie. The rich eat well, their stomachs are filled, The poor live empty, and due to hunger, they are killed.

Content with our meal, we sleep at night, The poor beg for food, trying to explain their plight. They starve to death, and stop asking due to fright, Why are they denied such a basic right?

Outside an eatery, the poor wait with rolling tears, The rich sit happily chugging down beers. While the wealthy pay their bills shelling thousands of rupees, The poor find their food in garbage cans and thrown under trees.

Why are we so cruel? Why do we act rude? All they mean to ask is a simple plate of food. When you tend to waste your meal, remember it’s a blunder. While you have filled your stomach, someone dies out of hunger.
